From: Ty (Alterra Race Director) Subject: Alterra Race Course Report
As the weather has been cooperating lately and with a lot of hard work, the course is shaping up nicely.
The Alpha Trail will not be used this year since the route to and from the trail is still very wet (will probably not dry out until winter!). This year the race has a few twists and turns for the Citizens and Sport class, while Comp and Elite will encounter a different look at Crystal Ridge with some hints from the old course.
The course is being marked everyday this week and I hope to have it complete by Friday afternoon. Even though I have the Citizen, Comp, and Elite course figured out, I'm still undecided with the Sport course. I will be looking for feedback before I make a decision. Might not know until the day of!
For the most part, the course is dry with some mud spots. If mud spots do not dry up, sandbags will be put down to help firm up sloppy areas. The grass/weeds/brush have been cut back and racked from the trail to help aid in passing, vision of trail, drying out of trail.
This years course will definiately be one to talk about amongst the racers and great for the spectators as they will have many views of the racers.
If you are in the area stop down and check it out. I will be there M-Thur after 5:30 pm and Friday all day!
